Founded in 1995, the Essence Festival, known as “Essence Fest”, is an annual music festival which celebrates African-American women, music and culture. The inaugural celebration was intended as a one-time event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence Magazine. It’s success created a cultural phenomenon and has continues to bring Black people together for 25 years.

The PxP (Peace by Peace) Festival is Europe’s largest benefit festival for children. Some of the most renowned and sought-after artists and bands come together each year on this day to raise their voices for children in need. Every year, PxP celebrates working together to help build a more peaceful future for the younger generation.

WEARABLE ART GALA FOR INSTAGRAM


In 2016, Richard and Tina Knowles Lawson joined forces to create the Wearable Art Gala in association with non- profit the LA theatre, Where Art Can Occur (WACO) to provide access for those in the community to an institution that is largely exclusionary. From mentoring 12-14 year old, budding art’s enthusiasts to providing support and sponsorship for artists of colour of all ages.

Not only are the Lawsons the Artistic directors of the night, and selector’s of the annual theme, Beyoncé Knowles Carter, Kelly Rowland, and Solange all hold seats on the advisory board.

The 2019 theme was in celebration of the much anticipated film, The Lion King, which started Beyonce as Nala.
